Thumb Industries, Inc. started its recycling program in Winter 2009. Since the inception of our recycling program we have kept more than 11 million tons of waste out of local landfills. The demand for recycling has increased dramatically since the inception of our program. To better serve our community, we offer easy, convenient ways for you to recycle. You can drop off your recyclables during staffed hours or utilize our 24 hour drop off trailers. We also offer recycling education and services to our local schools, and offer tours of our facility.
The Recycling Center currently accepts clean tin & aluminium, cardboard, mixed residential mail (MRM), paper and newsprint. We also accept plastics labeled with a #1 or #2 (soap containers, water bottles, etc) providing they have been rinsed/cleaned out. Thumb Industries, Inc. also offers shredding services that are available to the public and businesses for a small fee.

HOURS OF OPERATION:
EFFECTIVE June 8, 2020
Thumb Industries, Inc. regrets to inform the public that our agency will be discontinuing recycling services provided to the county effective immediately. Over the past two years, the market for recyclables has continued to decrease and money received from the sales of commodities has decreased over 50% and has not covered expenses that our agency has incurred while providing these services to the community.
Without funding from the county to continue to provide recycling services to the public, our agency unfortunately cannot continue to provide these services to Huron County residents. Thumb Industries appreciates your support of our recycling program throughout the years and is proud of to have kept over 12.5 million pounds of recyclable material out of our local landfill since its inception in 2009.
